Pearson BTEC Level 5 Higher National Diploma in Electrical & Electronic Engineering (QCF)

Overview

The programme is designed to provide a wide range of engineering and management skills and you, as either an individual or part of a team, will need to solve technical problems and implement appropriate solutions.

You will start by learning the fundamental skills to understand basic engineering principles. As you progress through the course, its emphasis will focus in on a number of electrical and electronic subject areas.

Learning Objectives

  • To prepare a range of technical and management careers in electrical and electronic engineering;
  • To develop a range of skills and techniques, personal qualities and attributes essential for successful performance in working life and thereby enable students to make an immediate contribution to employment at the appropriate professional level;
  • To equip individuals with knowledge, understanding and skills for success in employment in the electrical / electronic engineering-based industry;
  • To provide specialist studies relevant to individual vocations and professions in which students are working or intend to seek employment in electrical / electronic engineering and its related industries;
  • To enable progression to or count towards an undergraduate degree or further professional qualification in electrical/electronic engineering in the related area;
  • To provide a significant educational base for progression to Incorporated Engineer level.

Course Duration

Full Time: 16 Months (3 hours per day X 5 days a week)

Part Time: 22 Months (3 hours per day X 3 days a week)

Local Student Admission

Admission Requirements

  • Singaporean students with at least 18 years of age; one GCE ‘A’ Level subject in Mathematics or Science subject or successful completion of a recognised Access or Foundation programme in relevant Engineering field or IB Diploma, Pearson BTEC Level 3 90-credit Diploma in Engineering and relevant Engineering Diplomas and other equivalent qualifications; or
  • Mature candidates over 30 year of age and at least 8 years of relevant working experience but who do not possess the required qualifications may also be considered.

International Student Admission

Admission Requirements

Foreign students with at least 18 years of age; successful completion of High School 12 Grade (12 years of formal education) OR GCE ‘A’ level equivalent plus IELTS score of at least 5.50 (or equivalent) or have reached a level of competence equivalent to a TOEFL score of 500 or successful completion of a recognised Access or Foundation programme.

  • Students who have successfully completed 2 years of full-time study conducted in English medium may satisfy the English Language requirement; or
  • Students who do not meet the above requirements are required to pass TEG English Language Entry Test which is the equivalence to IELTS 5.5.
